I once took part in a class on Crime in the Regency. One of the other students was a man who was a member of the modern Thames Police and was connected to the Thames River Police Museum. He took us on a tour of it– by video. It was some years ago and details are not as clear. They had a difficult job along the river with all the shipping and warehouses. The Museum was interesting. We were shown many different exhibits. http://www.thamespolicemuseum.org.uk/history.html

The history is fascinating.
Enjoyed that very much. Wish there was more information and the videos were longer.
I have a book about crime on the social and legal history of the river police. https://www.amazon.com/Criminal-River-History-Thames-Police/dp/0709093276
